چکیده

Olive oil as medicine: the effect on lipids and lipoproteins This report focuses on studies examining the effect of olive oil on blood lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides) and lipoproteins (LDL, VLDL, and HDL). It is the first in a series of reports that summarize published studies examining the effect of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) on clinical risk factors for chronic diseases. These reports provide clinicians with science-based information and practical advice on how to teach patients to incorporate EVOO into the diet. Summary • Two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) a day may decrease the risk of heart disease by improving blood levels of lipids and lipoproteins. • EVOO with a higher phenol content can provide more health benefits than EVOO with a lower phenol content. • Strategies for obtaining a quality EVOO include selecting oils with a harvest date from the most recent season as well as choosing containers that protect the oil from light.

An olive oil-rich diet results in higher concentrations of LDL cholesterol and a higher number of LDL subfraction particles than rapeseed oil and sunflower oil diets.

We investigated the effect of olive oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil on blood lipids and lipoproteins including number and lipid composition of lipoprotein subclasses. Eighteen young, healthy men participated in a double-blinded randomized cross-over study (3-week intervention period) with 50 g of oil per 10 MJ incorporated into a constant diet. Plasma cholesterol, triacylglycerol, apolipop...

Effect of Corn Oil, Olive Oil and Sheep’s and Cow’s Ghee on the Expression of apoB Protein in Syrian Mice’s Intestine and Liver

Background and Aims: Type and saturation of fatty acids can have an important impact on the level of triglyceride, cholesterol, very low and low-density lipoproteins in the blood and thus affect the development of atherosclerosis. Saturated fatty acids have an additive effect on blood cholesterol while for unsaturated fatty acids, a lowering effect has been reported. Fatty acids can have differ...

Introduction: In order to study the effects of turpentine oil on the concentration of lipids and lipoproteins of rabbit ( as an animal model for human studies )35 healthy female rabbits were chosen and then randomly allocated into 13 groups. Different percents of turpentine oil and other oil compounds like vegetable oil, cholesterol and animal oil were given to each group ( 5 rabbits ) separat...

n -- 3 fatty acid supplementation during pregnancy in women with allergic disease: effects on blood pressure, and maternal and fetal lipids.

n--3 Fatty acids derived from fish oil reduce plasma triacylglycerols (triglycerides) and increase HDL-C (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol); however, the effect of n--3 fatty acid supplementation during pregnancy, a hyperlipidaemic state, remains unknown. We took the opportunity to investigate maternal lipid levels and blood pressure during and after pregnancy, and fetal lipid levels at bir...
